AFWATOTFAV Stands for: “A FRIDAY WITH A TWIST ON THE FIGHT AGAINST VIOLENCE” A Friday with a twist on the fight against violence is required because too many people become reckless on Friday, due to the weekend culture. This reckless culture needs to be changed. – To raise awareness on violence, to create solutions and to educate and empower the community – VIIA Ambassadors (research, analysis, support of awareness activities) – VIIA Friends (social workers, psychologist for care and counselling of direct and indirect victims) – To support VIIA sustainability projects (e.g. the Wash House – a place for the homeless to stay and gain a skill for potential employment through opportunities created by VIIA) – To increase/support/create local opportunities and to create education benefits for ambassadors
#STAND
#STAND: STOP VIOLENCE campaign is used as an organizing strategy to combat violence against men, women and children in a selected community. This campaign has two phases the first being mostly research within the selected community and the second phase being a camp style phase comprising of different elements focusing on the main objectives: – Raising awareness about gender-based violence as a human rights issue at the local, regional, national, and international levels – Strengthening local work around violence against men, women and children – Establishing a clear link between communities and local organizations to combat gender-based violence – Sensitizing communities on their role to combat violence against men, women and children – Creating local opportunities to ensure that Violence can be reduced – VIIA continued research (e.g. through surveys, etc…)
